Task: Happy Friday! Today, we're going to focus on India's sacred cow. For many cheeseburger-loving Americans it may seem unusual that Hindus prohibit the killing of cows. However, according to anthropologists, this religious prohibition actually results in positive social and economic benefits. First, we'll watch a short video clip documenting the life of cows in India. Then, you'll read an excerpt detailing the sacred cow from an anthropologist's perspective. If you finish with the close reading assignment early, please work on the partition assignment or your study guide.
