Media Day 7 - Constructing Images

Objective:  Construct an image to convey a message.

Task:  Happy Friday!  We'll begin class with a journal entry entitled "The Power of Image."  Your reflection should summarize our discussions and activities from the week.  Then, as discussed yesterday,  you will have the remainder of class to work on your project.  Please use your time wisely!  When you finish, please watch one of the videos in the TED Talks "Media With Meaning" playlist.  If the majority of the class finishes early, we will begin our notes on media.

  • Monday, February 8 - "Constructing Images" submissions due BEFORE class

CPWC Day 8 - Globalization & Development

Objective:  Analyze an ethnography for ethnocentrism.  Use resources at stations to develop a definition for development and globalization.

Task:  Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please go to the station you ENDED at yesterday.  We'll spend the first few minutes of class talking about the Nacerima before you continue on with your stations investigations.  Finally, we'll debrief and review expectations for Monday's test.

HWC Day 7 - Historical Periodization

Special Notes:  If you haven't done so already, stop by the library to pick up issues of History Today and Current History for questions 42 & 43 on the "Foundations Investigation."

Objective:  Explore the difficulties and justifications for periodization in history.

Task:   We'll begin class with the final Primer presentation.  Then, you'll work with a partner to investigate one of the "Big Eras" in history.  Finally, we'll spend the last portion of class analyzing "Yalta Conference."

Soc Day 7 - Pioneers Review & Reflection

Objective:  Examine the lives and major contributions of select sociologists.

Task:  Happy Monday!  Today, you'll use the entire class to listen to and take notes on VoiceThread. If you have questions about any of the sociologists, please post them on the appropriate page. After you've considered ALL of the sociologists, please post your reflection on the last page of the VoiceThread.  If you have time remaining at the end of class, please work on your unit 1 vocabulary OR read  "Grown-Up Digital."
