CPWC Day 71 - Imperialism and Westernization

Objectives:  Summarize the impact of imperialism on the peoples of Southeast Asia.  Examine the history of Southeast Asia to determine the impact of Western influence on the region during the 20th century.

Task:  After you've recorded the daily objective, please get out your reading notes on chapter 32 and a pencil in preparation for the reading quiz.  After you've finished the reading quiz, please turn it in to Mrs. Friday and pick up "Vietnam: An Historical Introduction."  Please read and answer the questions while you're waiting for your classmates to finish the quiz.  Finally, we'll spend the last portion of class define investigating and identifying key terms about the genocide in Cambodia.

HWC Day 71 - Library Research

Objectives:  Use library and on-line resources to gather supporting information for the research and reflection essay.

Task:  Today's class is devoted entirely to the research and reflection paper.  Before submitting your work, make sure to double check the requirements identified on the rubric.  Please be sure to submit your source cards and note cards by 3:00 today.  While you're working on these activities, I'll continue meeting with individuals to discuss progress on the R&R paper.

CPWC Day 70 - Exploring Southeast Asia (cont.)

Objectives:  Locate and identify key locations in Southeast Asia, Australia, and Oceania.  Examine totalitarianism, nationalism, and democracy in Myanmar.

Task:  Welcome back and happy new year!  As we embark upon our new year, we must finish our studies of Southeast Asia.  To start class, we'll review the physical and political maps of Southeast Asia and Oceania.  Then, we'll spend the remainder of class examining the complicated political situation in Myanmar.

HWC Day 70 - Examining Southeast Asia: Past & Present

Objectives:  Summarize the impact of imperialism on the people and cultures of Southeast Asia.  Examine totalitarianism, nationalism, & democracy in Myanmar.

Task:  As we start off 2013, we'll spend much of today's class multi-tasking.  To begin class, I'll return work that you completed before the break and we'll spend a few minutes discussing these assignments. Then, you'll get out the computers, log on to the Moodle and work on "Case Study: Myanmar,"  "Considering Southeast Asia," and "Cambodia in Context."  While you're working on these activities, I'll be meeting with individuals to discuss progress on the R&R paper.
