CPWC Day 84 - Latin America Wrap-Up

Day 5 - PAW 5 

Objective:   Evaluate the paths since independence in Latin America.

REMINDER:  All books must be returned no later than final exam day.  If you have not turned your books in when you arrive to the final exam, your name will be added to the outstanding debt list.

Task:   Happy Friday!  When you arrive to class, please open and complete "The Legacy of General Pinochet" and read "Latin America at the End of the Twentieth Century."  If you finish early, please work on the study guide for your final exam.  We'll end our week with a review of the developments in Latin America.

*Optional Extra Credit - Due to our lost time and the rapidly approaching final exam, "Contemporary Issues in Southeast Asia" is now an optional extra credit assignment.  If you choose to complete this assignment, it can not hurt your grade and can only help your grade.

Task:   Happy Monday!  When you arrive to class, please get out a pencil in preparation for your map quiz.  After you've finished the quiz, please read "Latin America Independence Movements."  We'll finish class with a review of the Haitian Revolution.

Objective:   Practice geography skills using the map of Latin America.  Identify the unique cultures and traditions of Latin America.

Task:   Happy Monday!  When you arrive to class, please complete "Panama Canal" and "Latitude & Longitude South America."  After we review your work, we'll begin our exploration of the indigenous cultures of the Americas.

Objective:   Assess knowledge of the unit 7 map.  Demonstrate understanding of the region with a reflection and analysis of a current events topic.

Task:   Good afternoon!  When you arrive to class, please get out a pencil in preparation for your map quiz.  As you work through the quiz, please use test taking strategies and double check your work.  After you finish the quiz, please complete "Contemporary Issues in Southeast Asia."  This will be one of your last grades for the course - be sure to check the rubric and do your best!

Task:  Hola!  When you arrive to class, please download the Latin America Summary Notes.  First, we'll watch a short video on the independence of Latin America.  Then, we'll discuss your summary notes and I'll answer any questions on the crossword puzzle.  Finally, we'll spend the last portion of class playing Kahoot to review for the final exam.

Objectives:  Evaluate the impact of colonialism on the peoples of Latin America.  Describe the causes and course of the revolution in Haiti.

Task:  Hola!  When you arrive to class, please clear your desk of everything except a pencil and your index card in preparation for your reading quiz.  After your reading quiz, please complete "Legacy of General Pinochet" and "Latin America at the End of the 20th Century."  When everyone has finished the quiz, we'll finish our examination of the Haitian Revolution.  Finally, we'll compare the events in Haiti to the independence movements in Mexico and South America.

Purpose:  Assess knowledge of the Latin America map.   Compare and contrast the Aztecs and the Incas.  Investigate the status of colonial society in Latin America.

Task: Good morning!  When you arrive to class, please clear your desks of everything except a pencil in preparation for the map quiz. After you finish the quiz, please use the resources on Schoology to complete the Aztec and Inca comparison.  If you finish with the chart, work on your unit 8 reading notes, study for your cumulative map quiz or your final exam. After we review the Aztecs and Incas, we'll take a few minutes to consider the significance of the Panama Canal and explore colonial society in Latin America.

Purpose:  Review the political geography of Latin America.  Compare and contrast the Aztecs and the Incas.  Consider the impact of Spanish colonization on the peoples and lands of Latin America.
