HWC Day 9 - Defining Historical Eras

Objectives:  Explore the difficulties and justifications for periodization in history.   Define historical periods utilized in HWC.  Consider "modern" and "nation" as social constructs.

Task:  Good afternoon!  When you arrive to class, please clear your desks and get out a pen or pencil in preparation for your reading quiz.  After you finish the quiz, please go to "Imagined Communities" and "American Anthropological Association Statement on Race" define social construct.  Then, we'll continue our notes and finish our class in groups practicing our primary document analysis with the Yalta Conference.

Homework:

• TODAY - Globalization & Diversity chapter 1 reading quiz (1 side of 3x 5 index card permitted)
• Friday, February 3 - Imperialism discussion (complete Venn diagram and chart in preparation for our discussion)
