Day 1 - Paw 1

Welcome to CP World Cultures! In this course we will utilize the disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, global studies, and history to explore the world of the past and the present. In order to be successful in this course, it is essential that you develop effective, consistent work & study habits. Further, I encourage you to follow the news and look for connections to our studies. If you find yourself overwhelmed or confused, please email or speak with me right away.
Objective: Introduce class procedures and distribute text books. Begin to develop class rapport.
Task: Good afternoon! Today, we'll begin with the usual first day activities including reading through the class rules and signing out textbooks. Then, we'll get to know each other with a brief ice breaker activity.
Homework Due Dates:
- Tuesday, August 29 - Complete assigned sections of "Lines of Latitude & Longitude" packet due at beginning of class
- Tuesday, August 29 - Student Information Sheet due by 3:00 pm
- Wednesday, August 30 - Geography chapter 1, section 1 reading due at the beginning of class
- Wednesday, August 30 - Parent Information Sheet & Parent Email due by 3:00 pm
- Thursday, August 31 - Read "How Can We Fix the World if We Can't Read a Map" for activity at beginning of class
- Friday, September 1 - CPWC PAW
- Friday, September 1 - Read "What Difference Does Language Make?" or "Where People Don't Like to Say No" BEFORE class begins
- Tuesday, September 5 - Bring earbuds or headphones to class
- Wednesday, September 6 - Quiz on Geography & Culture (study guide in Schoology no later than Thursday, August 31)
- Thursday, September 7 - Read "100% American" BEFORE class begins
- Monday, September 11 - Watch "History of the World in 18 Minutes" & be ready to discuss at the beginning of class
- Tuesday, September 12 - CPWC PAW
- Wednesday, September 13 - Unit 1 Assessment (study guide on Schoology no later than Wednesday, September 6)
